Drama School Audition Prep Course

As of August 2008, entry to the Vivace Theatre School Drama School Audition Preparation course (DSAP) will no longer be restricted to VTS students.

Since opening in March 2003, Vivace Theatre School have been supporting and guiding our students through the highly competitive audition processes and into the colleges of their choice. School drama departments, youth theatres and similar organisations have so many demands on their time and few dedicated opportunities to work with students who wish to progress to full time training in Performing Arts. We are keen to help!

DSAP Structure

The DSAP is an independent course which begins with a careers interview to determine your long-term aspirations and a short mock interview (only one monologue required) to assess your current grade and audition technique. Following this our talented and well informed staff team will work with you to settle on a strategy enabling you to progress in a direction that is right for  you.

Classes run weekly on Tue evenings 6.30pm-9.30pm from September to March where students work with specialist tutors to prepare:-

1. A portfolio of audition repertoire - 2 classical monologues (one Shakespeare) and 2 contemporary monologues (one Scottish).

2. A selection of songs - (Most acting course auditions require this component and it is essential for those applying to Musical Theatre.)

3. Dance workshops - increase flexibility, stamina and strength and promote connection with the actors physicality.

4. Drama improvisation and devised theatre workshops - this is
becoming an increasingly popular way to assess candidates for courses dealing with contemporary theatre practices.

We also offer our DSAP students the opportunity to enhance their CV by sitting professionally recognized qualifications through the London Academy of Music And Drama and the London College of Music. The monologues and songs learned on the DSAP can be used to sit medal grades in Solo Acting through LAMDA and Musical Theatre grades with LCM.Furthermore, both examination boards are accredited by UCAS and allow candidates to add those extra vital points!

Vivace Theatre School currently maintain a 100% pass rate in all examination subjects.

With a course of this type it is essential that students receive enough one-to-one tuition and for this reason places are extremely limited.
